The Institute for Research in Materials (IRM) at Dalhousie University is made up of about 100 faculty members, in 6 faculties and 18 departments. Research topics range from nanomaterials to macroscopic structures and include experimental and theoretical approaches.
Materials Research is an interdisciplinary subject bringing many traditional sciences – chemistry, physics, earth sciences, biology – together with engineering, in the investigation of the relationships between and among the structure and properties of materials, and how these relate to materials processing and performance.
